Sonya Lingvai, Veterinary Technician

Sonya Lingvai started caring for patients at Companion Animal Hospital in May of 1997. As a veterinary technician, her primary responsibilities are checking in and caring for patients, assisting with surgery, educating clients, and her favorite of of the job—dentistry.

"I love organizing and educating clients about the importance of taking care of their pet's teeth," says Sonya. She also loves that, "At Companion Animal Hospital, I'm not just an employee, I'm part of a big clinic family."

Sonya earned her Registered Veterinary Technician degree from Colby Community College in 1997 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wichita State University in 2003. Before joining the staff at Companion Animal Hospital, she served as a veterinary assistant and was a staff member at Sedgwick County Zoo.

At home, Sonya is mom to two rescue dogs, Mathilda and Wiggles. She's also been adopted by seven neighborhood cats: Baby, BB, Cuddles, Fluffy, Mocha, Mr. Orange and Possum. In her spare time she loves to run.

Tammy Greenlee, Veterinary Technician

Tammy Greenlee, Veterinary Technician

Tammy Greenlee has cared for pets at Companion Animal Hospital since July 2007. As a veterinary technician, her job responsibilities include client education, preparing and assisting with surgery, patient care, obtaining samples and running lab tests, client callbacks, ordering, cleaning and dental prophylactics. Possessing a calm demeanor, Tammy’s favorite parts of the job are interacting with our clients, assisting with dental appointments and caring for puppies.

Prior to joining our hospital, Tammy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a focus in Animal Science and Industry from Kansas State University. She also is a certified animal care specialist from the United States Army.

“I enjoy working at Companion Animal Hospital because it has a homey atmosphere and we all get along really well,” Tammy says. “Some of the clients have been here a really long time and it is nice to not have to introduce yourself to everyone. They know who you are when they come in.”

At home, Tammy has a 3-year-old Texas Blue Lacey named Jack, a 2-year-old Papillion named Ziggy, an 8-year-old healer mix named Bella, a 2-year-old domestic shorthair cat named Bonnie and a 12-year-old domestic shorthair cat named Handsome. She enjoys spending her free time with her sweet little granddaughter and her three grown daughters and husband.

Destiny Finch, Veterinary Assistant

Destiny Finch, Veterinary Assistant

Destiny Finch is a veterinary assistant at Companion Animal Hospital. Her daily responsibilities include helping our doctors with routine appointments, caring for hospitalized patients, scheduling appointments and helping educate pet owners. Destiny has great people skills, and enjoys talking with our clients and explaining our hospital’s services. She also enjoys taking radiographs and performing dental cleanings.

“I really enjoy that everyone who works here has the same level of love for every patient we see and wants nothing but the best for the animals we get to treat every day,” Destiny says. “I have learned a lot about veterinary medicine since first getting my job and I have formed so many great relationships with our clients and enjoy watching their families grow throughout the years."

At home, Destiny has two domestic shorthair cats named Delilah and Gracie, a domestic medium hair cat named Marco, a Chihuahua named Peyton and a Guinea pig named Bacon Bit (or “BB” for short). Destiny enjoys spending her free time at the barn with horses, watching TV and dancing. She would love to travel the world at some point in the future.

Valeri Schoen, Receptionist

Valeri Shoen joined the team at Companion Animal Hospital in November 2010. As a receptionist, she’s responsible for greeting clients, scheduling appointments and bonding with our hospital’s great patients. Valeri’s favorite part of the job is building relationships with clients.

“I have worked for the doctors of Companion Animal Hospital in some capacity since 2004,” Valeri says. “It is rewarding to help the owners and be able to advocate for them, their pets and our staff. Since I don’t have any animals of my own, it fills my cup to see the puppies and kittens who come in. It is amazing what we do in a day as a team.”

Valeri and her husband have four adult children, and they plan on rescuing a dog when they retire. She and her husband enjoys staying active by playing disc golf, going to drive-ins, going on cruises, listening to live music, going on bike rides, and attending community and church functions.

Michelle Joffrion, Receptionist

Michelle joined the receptionist team at Companion Animal Hospital in August of 2014. Her typical duties include answering the phones, assisting the veterinarians and technicians with patients, and her favorite part of the job—helping people with their pets. Becore coming to the hospital, Michelle graduated from Tulsa Community College in 2011 with an Associates Degree in applied science for veterinary technology.

Michelle enjoys working at Companion Animal Hospital. She'll quickly tell you that "working here is like being a part of a big family."

At home, Michelle has a severn-year-old Labrabull—a Labrador Pitt Bull mix—named Shards and a domestic shorthair cat named Crispin. When not hanging out with her fur-babies, Michelle enjoys reading, biking, and running.

Estella Meraz, KPA-CTP, Dog Trainer

Estella Meraz has been a dog trainer at Companion Animal Hospital since August 2002. She is the head trainer in our hospital’s primary and puppy training programs. Her responsibilities include day-school assessments, scheduling day-school drop off and appropriate play groups. Estella is working towards her Associate degree in Veterinary Technology and is a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner. She is also fluent in Spanish.

“I enjoy working at Companion Animal Hospital because it’s a low-stress and force-free veterinary office that goes along with my beliefs in dog training,” Estella says.

At home, Estella has a 3-year-old boxer mix named Omar and a 5-year-old orange tabby cat named Jackson. She is a member of the Pet Professional Guild and the Pet Professional Alliance of Wichita. Estella has three daughters and one son. Her daughter Reyna just started high school and plays soccer. Soledad is in middle school and she loves to bake. Alysia is in the third grade and also plays competitive soccer. Her son Julian is 2-years-old and keeps Estella on her feet.
